The legacy of the programmable machine
The first software in history was a set of pegs fixed to a brass cylinder in the 13th century. Jazari carries that legacy into modern software development.
Ismail al-Jazari designed water clocks, automated musicians and self-operating mechanisms at the Artuqid court in the 13th century. The brass drum in his musical automaton produced different melodies according to the arrangement of the pegs set into it.
Changing the position of the pegs changed the behaviour of the machine. This is the first known programmable hardware. It is the point on which our corporate identity rests.
Jazari applies the same principle to software development. An autonomous engineering agent running on your local machine: it analyses repository structure, produces code, executes commands and verifies the result. For irreversible operations, the decision always remains yours.
